Lights up:  A bunch of people (including T M C and Chico) are hanging out backstage.  Enter Cookie and Sno)

COOKIE:

What's everyone hanging back here for?

SNO:

Oh, they're holding auditions.  Wizard of Oz, I think.

T M C (to the crowd):

All right, who would like to be Dorothy?

(Chico waves her widely)

T M C:

Yeah.  Anyone else?  Please?

GUY:

I'll do it.

T M C:

This isn't a pantomime.  Chico, go ahead and sing a couple lines.

CHICO (quite dramitically and falsetto)

SOME DAY I'LL WISH UPON A STAR

AND WAKE UP WHERE THE CLOUDS BE FAR BE - HIND MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

WHERE TROUBLES MELT LIKE CHIMNEY TOPS

WAY ABOVE THE LEMON DROPS

IS WHERE YOU'LLLLLLLLL FIIIIIIII--

T M C:

Okay, Guy, you've got the part.  All right, moving onto The Wizard ...

SNO (to Cookie):

Hey, you should audition for Dorothy, COokie.  I bet you'd get the part.

COOKIE:

What?

SNO:

YOu don't have to know all the words, just the songs.  We ad lib everything anyway.  And you know all the songs, right?

COOKIE:

Well, yeah, but ...

SNO (to the crowd):

Cookie will do it, she'll play Dorothy in the performance!

COOKIE:

No, I --

(The group begins clammoring around her:

Hey, that's a good idea!

Yeah, she'll make a good Dorothy!

Way to go, Cookie!

Etc.
