Some Thoughts on Crowd Hoot
By the real T M C
(though I may edit this to be by Eliza for the novel. These are my thoughts as long as this A N is here.)
I fear people will be quick to point out that the chars here are based on my co-workers. Not really. Not even nearly. So here, for everyone, is what they are based on.
L J: Her name came to me in the hallway. Little Liza Jane was stuck in my head. I don't really care for the name Eliza, but a lot of kids songs have someone by that name. My own neice likes, 'There's a Hole in the Bucket.' Her personality? I don't know. I just wanted her to be cool, and the uncool parts of her personality are loosly based on me. And yes, by uncool parts I mean when she beat up Charley.
Charley, the second in command: Hmm. I don't know. Her name is just cool, that's all. I've had that name for a long time is all. I really like boyish names for girls. But her personality. Nothing really comes to mind.
Cassandra: Another name I've used over and over and over again. She is kind of like Tosh from Torch Wood. That is her function at Crowd Hoot. She's computer savvy. So definatly no one I know.
yemmesee, Hannah. Now Hannah is based on a couple of people I know, but hopefully the very worst parts of them. So don't get me wrong, I like the people she's based on, but sometimes they are &&^%$&&^^s (quote by my dear friend Missy). Most of the situations Hannah is in are based on real life things that have happened. Obviously.
Kyle: My favorite. Kyle is the story teller. So you might think she's me, but really, no. I am L J in my head. Kyle is the new girl, learning about the elvin world. I suppose she's most like Missy, but only because Missy is new. But mostly not. Maybe based on Gwen?
Otto: My other favorite, only because of his name. It is based on Owen. But he's not like Owen at all. If anything, L J is like the female, lesbian version of Owen. But not really. Otto is based on Capp. This is why Capp is mistakenly called Otto many times. I will fix that during Nanoedmo. But anyway, Otto is probably a better leader than L J because he doesn't attempt to kill all his group once a month.
L J and her view on relationships
L J spent her late childhood and adolencence around elves, and grew up believing the things they did. The elves were often polygamous, omnisexual ... elves. For lack of a better word.
Although L J is obviously a lesbian, she refuses to describe herself in this way because she doesn't necisarily believe in monosexuality. She just assumes that the people she are attracted to are coincidentally all woman.
L J has dated many woman, often simutainously. Though she never mentions an open relationship, it is never a surprise to those she is with. This is largely due to the fact that she only dates within the Center and even new people hear about her from others.
Although she is only ever knowen as having dated Charlie, there is speculation that she had been with Hannah, and also Haichelle, a previous team member. It is also rumored that she really likes Kyle, though she says herself that Kyle's "boat don't float down that river."
L J on office politics (or whatever. I don't know that that's right.)
Although L J has very strong morals that seem to match the Centers, I would like to point out that she does not normally follow them herself. She is a hypocrite. But she also realizes this, and therefore is not a hypocrite. She tries her best.
The number one most important thing at the Elf Councilling Center is for one to take responsibility for their actions. If you mess up, you accept your punishment without complaint. And she does.
But the point of being punished is to learn from your mistakes and become a better person in general. Does L J? It doesn't seem so. She takes her beliefs seriously and gets quite passionate about it. Stay out of her way. This behavoir is ruled unacceptable by the E C C, but to date it still occurs. I think they only keep her because she does her job well, despite her ... something.
