A "Cape Summerland" Story

"I really hope it goes better this time.  I hope we can create a great place to live, not be bothered by money or whatever, you know?  I don't think that's what life's all about.  Everythings really the same as we left it.  The animals are gone, but we've still got all kinds of food in storage and stuff.  The town is still as dull and creeky as it was.  I'm so excited."

Laken switched the camera off.  Since Casey and Dan were going to be participating in the show as well, we would have to film our own monologues.  But that was okay with her.

"Hey, Chico.  Hey, Sno," she said, stepping out into the bright sunlight.  Her eyes started to water.  "I forgot how hot it gets here."

"Yeah, it's brutual," Sno said.  "I'm going to try to make some bonnets or something.  Want to help?"

"Yeah, sure."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Chico said.  "I'm the captain of this town.  I think we should have a meeting first."

"Yeah," Dan said, from behind his camera.  "We should split up the chores like you guys did on the show.  A couple people to cook, some to clean, right?"

"Or we could all help out with everything," Elle Jae spoke up.  There was a pause, so she added, "Just sayin'."

"It's not like there's that many of us," Laken said.  "We could at least try it."

"But I'm afraid not everyone's going to pull their weight."

Chico puffed up.  "If you don't pull your weight, well then, you aren't going to eat."

A few minutes later, a bell chimed.  Everyone sat on the little pews, except for Chico, who was on the stage, and Dan and Casey, who were filming from either side of the room.

"All right guys," Chico said.  "We've been in ..."

She paused, and her eyes darted back and forth.  The curly haired girl looked at her hand.

"Cat Simmerlyn for all of three hours now.  There's plenty around here to do.  Rather than split up, everyone is going to help with everything.  Are you plumped?"

Everyone looked at each other.

"I SAID ... ARE YOU PLUMPEDDDDDDD?"

"Yeah!" everyone screamed.
